The Big News

You’ve all waited, with baited breath I’m sure, so here it is. Not only is themeltingrecords.com being taken to new heights by Kacy Fisher, but there is now free stuff there too! The store is up and running with a select few items ready to be taken home by you. Also, in honor of a friend of everyone here at Melting Records, Sean Owens, passing away in an unexpected accident a couple weeks ago, we have a free download up of all the things we recorded when we were in a band as youngsters called The Deep End. It also includes a movie of us playing St Andrews Hall in Detroit. Sean will be missed and I hope that you will enjoy the silly music we made as much as I do.

Even bigger news than the website being up and running of coarse is that we have been accepted by kickstarter.com to launch a project! If you’ve never heard of Kickstarter I suggest you check it out. It basically works like PBS. We have a yet-to-be-set goal for funding a project and you kind, wonderful and down right sexy people contribute as much as you see fit. At certain points you receive rewards depending on how much you chip in. The more you put in, the more and cooler stuff you get. Pretty sweet right? Then if we reach the goal by 90 days, we get the money and you get your awesome stuff. If not, nothing happens, no hard feelings. Now what project could we possibly need funding for? A Dome Piece record of coarse!

Now this won’t be just any record. Not only will you get a 12” record of sweet jams and heavy grooves that Dome Piece could put together, but you will get a free download of the entire album plus some extra tracks we cut out for time AND a one of a kind piece of art insert waiting for you inside. Each record will be completely unique! The art will range from drawings from Leah Sweeting, A zine from Kacy Fisher, photos, prose, just anything we can think of. Plus it will already be special because you funded it! We are all excited about this and as soon as it launches we will let you know.

Well that’s all the news for now but be sure to stay tuned for more soon!
